Introduction

The guides below are organized by different project contributor roles with a list of actions they would typically need to take during various stages of a project. Also included is a brief introductory note explaining why the role and steps are important to achieving project management success.

Project Manager Quick Start

Not having a standard way to plan and manage projects is a common challenge among project managers. This is why adopting a template approach from project selection to project close is crucial for success.

BrightWork 365 Free ships with a project template to give organizations a very fast starting point. 


Initiate the Project

  1. Review the Personal and Collaborative Leadership Handbook for helpful ideas to start your projects on the right track and keep them humming along through successful completion.
  2. Assemble your project team.
  3. Assign User Security Roles to any colleague that will be participating in project work.
  4. Adjust your app's Personalization Settings as needed.
  5. Gather the initiation related information such as initial scope, budget, sponsors, objectives, etc.
  6. Create the project.
  7. Review the tabs and fields available in the project and add all relevant data gathered previously.

Plan the Project

After your new project is created click into Projects on the main nav to see a list report of all projects. Click on your project link and its various tabs to display project information and to make any necessary updates as the project flows through its lifecycle.

  1. With input from your project team, define the tasks required to successfully deliver the project.
  2. Gather the estimated duration required to complete the work.
  3. Assign the work to team members.
  4. Enter date information into the project's date related fields.
  5. Notify team of the work.
  6. Collect and store needed project artifacts.

Track the Project

  1. View and update the Status of the project.
  2. View the reports built into BrightWork 365 Free.

Team Member & Senior Executive Quick Start

BrightWork 365 Free project views and reports, which can be accessed from the app Home page and the Projects link on the main navigation, display high-level information about individual projects.  View a defaulted view with clearly labeled fields and dropdown filters for project status, so you can quickly access and review relevant projects based on their progress and ownership. These reports are best for focusing on high-level details, but they also offer an easy way to drill down into very specific project information by clicking on various hyperlinks in each row.
